Why Do I Need Burial Insurance?

What’s The Point?

Honestly, everyone has probably asked themselves this when they realized there was such a thing as burial insurance. So why do you need it? Why should everyone you know have it? Well, I can help explain why it’s important, and may be one of the smartest purchases of your life.

Life is full of curve balls. There are twists and turns every day when we wake up. In a world full of unknowns and surprises, there is one thing that is certain: we will all pass away one day. Trust me, I get it. It’s not a fun topic to discuss, but it is one that definitely needs to be brought up at some point. Especially when you are figuring out how your family will pay for the burial when the time comes.

Surprisingly, there are a few different things that people can do when it comes to being buried. There are two most common ones though:

  • Natural Burial
  • Cremation

Natural

A natural burial is what I am referring to when someone is going the traditional route. That means a casket and services. For me, this is the most common choice that I see most people make, so that is why I am choosing to discuss it here for you.

Now natural burials are wonderful, but man are they expensive. The average funeral today is around $8,000-10,000 and that’s being conservative. I see many of them going for $12k plus.

Now I don’t know about you, but I don’t know very many people who are retired, or on social security that have $12,000 laying around to cover their funeral when the time comes.

Cremation

Cremation is what most people consider to be the cheaper option of the two main burial methods. And that is correct, it is usually always more affordable. However, they can still cost up to $5,000-$7,000! Crazy right? Again, how many people do you know that have this money set aside for a funeral? And I mean strictly for a funeral. Not using it for anything else at all.

Conclusion

So why do you need burial insurance? Well if you don’t have these amounts of money set back specifically for a funeral, and are never going to touch that money, you need burial insurance.

Trust me, someone will have to foot the bill. It will unfortunately be the ones who love and care for you the most. And they shouldn’t have to worry about finances when they have lost one of the most important people in their life.

That is the thing about burial insurance. We don’t get it for ourselves, we get it for those we love.
